Center City’s cultural corridor is preparing for a new addition: Leo, an elevated Mediterranean restaurant opening this spring at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. Replacing the acclaimed Volvér by Chef Jose Garces, Leo will serve as the venue’s flagship dining destination for pre-show dinners and refined evening experiences.
Named after Leopold Stokowski, former music director of the Philadelphia Orchestra and conductor of Disney’s Fantasia, Leo offers a culinary composition as artful as the performances at the Kimmel. Behind the menu is Executive Chef Chris Cryer, formerly of Peak NYC, who brings creative Mediterranean-inspired dishes such as squid ink campanelle, lamb merguez dumplings, and fennel-cured hiramasa to center stage.
Operated by the Rhubarb Hospitality Collection, the restaurant will launch with a curated à la carte and three-course prix fixe menu in a newly renovated space on Spruce Street, just off the Avenue of the Arts.
Initially open Wednesday through Sunday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., Leo will expand its hours over time to meet demand. It follows the successful launch of Curtain Call, a cocktail lounge from the same group, also located at the Kimmel.
Whether you’re a lover of the arts, the city, or just good food—Leo promises a new reason to linger longer in the heart of Philadelphia.
