Philadelphia’s vibrant food scene is about to welcome a stunning new addition. Unapologetic Foods, the celebrated New York-based restaurant group known for redefining Indian cuisine, is opening a branch of its acclaimed restaurant Adda in Fishtown in late 2025.
Founded by Roni Mazumdar and James Beard Award-winning chef Chintan Pandya, Unapologetic Foods is lauded for its unapologetic, high-concept take on Indian dining. Their collection includes the Michelin-starred Semma, and Adda has long been considered a New York staple since its debut in 2018.
The Philadelphia outpost—located at 1700 Frankford Ave., a newly constructed three-story space—is poised to be more than a restaurant. It’s a culinary experience.
Adda, which means “hangout” in Bengali, will bring a fresh, sophisticated interpretation of Indian classics, including their signature Butter Chicken Experience—a luxurious preordered tableside feast featuring cold-smoked chicken, house-churned butters, and hand-selected wood chips to create a personalized, multisensory meal.
Other favorites expected to appear include innovative takes on dishes like baby goat biryani, bheja fry (fried goat brains), and kharda scallop—each designed to push the boundaries of flavor, technique, and presentation.
This move marks more than just a culinary expansion—it reflects Fishtown’s growing status as a hub for bold, design-forward living and lifestyle experiences. As Philadelphia’s food and cultural scenes flourish, so does the demand for living spaces that reflect the same vibrancy and depth.
