Sea Isle City’s buzz-worthy corner at John F. Kennedy Boulevard and Landis Avenue may still look like a vacant lot, but its future is far from uncertain. While rumors swirl about everything from convenience stores to amusement parks, developer Christopher Glancey has confirmed his commitment: an upscale boutique hotel is still the plan.
“This is a very complicated project,” Glancey shared, emphasizing that although progress has been slower than expected, momentum is building behind the scenes.
A Vision for Elevated Hospitality
Pending final approval from the Cape May County planning board, construction could begin as early as fall 2025 or spring 2026, with a grand opening targeted for summer 2028.
The proposed hotel will feature:
-
26 boutique hotel suites
-
20 private residences
-
A restaurant, bar, and bakery
-
A second-floor pool exclusively for hotel guests
Designed to be a year-round draw for visitors, the project is poised to become a cornerstone of Sea Isle’s tourism economy and a key driver for local business growth.
“This town needs visitors to survive,” Glancey said. “If you don’t have visitors, businesses can’t survive.”
From LaCosta to The Ludlam: A Legacy Continues
The site has long been home to Sea Isle’s most iconic establishments—from the legendary LaCosta Lounge to its more recent iteration, The Ludlam bar and restaurant. While the existing complex was cleared in October 2024, the name “The Ludlam” will live on—reimagined as a high-end boutique destination.
Despite whispers of a possible sale, Glancey confirmed, “No, it’s not for sale.” The fenced and cleaned-up 1.2-acre site remains prepped for what’s next, awaiting its final green light.
