Planning a trip to the United Kingdom? As of April 2, 2025, all U.S. and EU citizens must obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before entering the UK. This digital approval is now a critical step for visitors—including those heading to England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
The ETA functions similarly to the U.S. ESTA system. Once granted, it’s valid for two years or until your passport expires, allowing stays of up to six months. Starting April 9, the cost will rise from £10 to £16 (approx. $20), so apply early via the UK ETA mobile app or official website.
All-cash buyers, portfolio diversification strategies, and long-term global travel planning are at the heart of today’s luxury lifestyle—and knowing the ins and outs of travel requirements helps protect your investment in experiences.
Travelers will need a valid passport, a debit/credit card (or Apple/Google Pay), and digital photos for the application process. Approvals may be instant but can take up to 72 hours, so don’t wait until the last minute.
Notably, airside transit passengers are currently exempt—though that policy remains under review. And if you hold a British or Irish passport, visa, or exemption, no ETA is required.
Whether you’re eyeing a second home abroad or planning a luxurious getaway, stay informed to avoid disruptions and maintain seamless travel.
