What's New to Try on the Main Line This Season

What's New to Try on the Main Line This Season

Havertown has a new dining destination worth the reservation. Ombra, from co-owners Julian Hublina and Elvis Berisha, took over the former VIDA BYOB space on Brookline Boulevard and reimagined nearly every detail. The 45-seat dining room feels polished but comfortable, with close quarters that encourage conversation between neighboring tables. In the kitchen, executive chef Stephen Vassalluzzo brings a contemporary northern Italian menu that leans away from red-sauce staples, the product of a career path that started in physics before turning to cooking.

For those looking to spend the last hot days of summer outdoors, the Main Line has several solid tubing options nearby. Northbrook Canoe Company on the Brandywine offers a two-hour float from Embreeville for thirty dollars a tube, or a longer three-hour route from Corcoran's Bridge. Closer to Wayne, Port Providence Paddle near Phoenixville offers an easy Schuylkill River float with rentals starting at seventeen dollars, shuttle included.

Whether it is a new dinner reservation or an afternoon on the water, late summer on the Main Line still has plenty to offer. Both are worth adding to the list before the season turns.
